This book covers the Armenian Literature in the 20th century.

The four scholarly studies in this volume examine the work of four well-known and beloved Armenian writers from the 20th century: Yeghishe Charents, Gurgen Mahari, Zabel Esayan, and Vahan Totovents. All four studies deal with the historical phenomenon of the national revolution -- the movement of national uprising among Armenians at the ned of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century -- and its literary treatment. The work seeks to answer how we can understand the link between this movement of national liberation and the extermination of the Armenians during World War I.

This compilation includes new English translations of some of the most significant works of these authors.
