By Aramashot Babayan, translated into English by Nishan Parlakian
An Armenian comedy in three acts, this work, like Babayan's others, is gentled, not barbed, satire in which the good, the pure, and kind triumph over darker forces.
One of the essential characteristics of his works is realism, each play being a slice-of-life about a real event that has happened to you or someone you know. He does not create artificial pictures of an ideal happy life, but concentrates on depicting daily life and living people.
Babayan began his career in the theater as an actor in 1931. By 1936 he had written his first play. He produced some three dozen plays during his career.
